NACD lauds Echono’s tertiary education reforms

Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfUND), Arc Sonny T. Echono has been commended for driving educational reforms across tertiary institutions in Nigeria a development that has returned sanctity to the sector.

The commendation was made by Nigerian Anti-Corruption Defenders (NACD) in a statement by its National Coordinator, Leonard Musa made available to Journalists in Bauchi on Monday.

NACD also commended the exemplary performance and technical support provided by the TETFund to all the Universities across the country which has facilitated a conducive academic activities.

“We unequivocally support his steadfast dedication to delivering on TETFUND’s mandate and reject any attempt to distract him from this noble cause.”

“The Executive Secretary of TETFund has demonstrated outstanding leadership characterized by transparency, accountability and a zero-tolerance policy towards underperformance and substandard contracts.”

“His commitment to upholding ethical standards and ensuring value for money in TETFUND projects is commendable.”

“Drawing from his extensive experience as a former Permanent Secretary at the Civil Service Commission, the Executive Secretary has doubled his efforts in transforming TETFund into a beacon of excellence in tertiary education funding,” it stressed.

The NACD further stated; “His open-door policy fosters transparency and encourages stakeholder engagement, contributing to the credibility of TETfUND’s operations.

“We are heartened by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s expressed interest and confidence in the Executive Secretary. His unwavering support underscores the significance of the Executive Secretary’s role in driving educational development in Nigeria. We trust that the President’s confidence will continue to be justified as the Executive Secretary steers TETfUND towards greater heights.”

“We, the Nigerian Anti-Corruption Defenders, humbly extend our sincerest apologies to you for our initial plan to stage a protest against your leadership. Upon careful consideration and reflection, we have decided to withdraw from our protest plans,” NACD emphasised.

“We acknowledge that certain individuals with ulterior motives sought to exploit the situation by sponsoring attacks and spreading false allegations against you. Recognizing their selfish intentions, we realize that our participation in the protest would only serve to further their agenda and undermine the integrity of our cause.”

“Our loyalty to the cause of transparency, accountability, and good governance remains supreme, and we will continue to work alongside you to advance these principles within the tertiary education sector.”

“We hereby reaffirm our vote of confidence in the Executive Secretary and call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reappoint him to lead TETFund through the RENEW HOPE initiatives.

“His performance and outstanding track record merit continuation of his leadership to further enhance teaching and learning environments and advance human capacity development in Nigeria’s tertiary education system,” it concluded. (Nigerian Tribune)
