NYF condemns attacks on TETFund, describes it as unwarranted

Northern Youth Forum (NYF) under the leadership has described the recent attacks on the leadership of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) as unwarranted and baseless

It alleged that the latest sinister plot at the Agency is aimed at instigating the removal of the Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, thereby, disrupting unnecessarily, the current reforms undertaken by the Agency.

It further stressed that the move against Echono was deliberate and nepotic in nature, and was to cast aspersion and malign his person and office just to achieve a sectional agenda, alleging that someone from the South West was being paraded as his replacement.

NYF leader, Ahmed Garo, in a statement, noted that frantic efforts are being made by the promoters of the ethnic agenda towards organising a protest at the EFCC offices to achieve their goal.

He said the media attacks and planned protests in Lagos and Abuja are perceived to be orchestrated by some unscrupulous mischief makers who are bent on discrediting the achievements of Echono whose reforms that have leapfrog the tertiary education sector and have received accolades from educational stakeholders within and outside the country.

Garo lamented that, rather than encourage the current leadership of TETFund to continue with its transformative agenda that has brought laudable developments in tertiary education sector, some individuals are bent on orchestrating his removal from office for their pecuniary reasons.

He called on the President to ignore the antics of these unpatriotic persons whose agenda is aimed at truncating the reforms being undertaken by the leadership of TETFund, confirming that the achievements have brought succour to the tertiary education sub-sector in Nigeria.

He, therefore, called on Nigerians to join forces in condemning the attacks on TETFund, saying that such acts will not only truncate ongoing reforms at TETFund, but will further derail peoples chances of benefiting from the good initiatives of the Fund that are already maximizing efficiency in the tertiary education sub-sector.
