Yobe’s 34th anniversary: Gov-buni urged citizens to remain  patriotic and committed to the state development

Yobe  State Governor Dr Mai Mala Buni has urged Yobe citizens to remain patriotic and committed to the state’s development, emphasising that everyone has a role to play in making Yobe State great.

The Governor stated this as part of activities marking the 34th anniversary of the state’s creation, highlighted  the significant progress made in various sectors since the creation of the state to date.

 The Governor, in a special program to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the creation of Yobe, with the General managers of Yobe broadcasting cooperation, YBC, Alhaji Musa Galadima, Yobe State Television  YTV, Yusuf Alhaji Isa and Director Information Service, Ministry of Home Affairs and Culture, Alhaji Ali Musa Yawale, at his office in Damaturu.

The governor expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the state’s growth and development despite multi-sectoral crises that affected the state.

According to Governor Mai Mala Buni, despite being a relatively young state, Yobe has come of age in many respects, pointing out that the state has witnessed significant transformations under successive administrations, with notable achievements in infrastructure development, education, healthcare,  agriculture, youth and women empowerment and road construction, among others.

Dr Mai Mala Buni said some of the state’s notable achievements include employment opportunities, construction of modern markets in Damaturu, Potiskum, Gashau, Nguru, Gaidam, Ngalda, Yunusari, Potiskum trailer park, sesame seed processing factories, primary healthcare facilities, and mass urban and rural housing.

“Yobe  State has become a major contributor to national food security and economic diversification, with significant production of food and meat for the nation the Governor added.

 Speaking on education revitalisation, Governor Buni said that with the state of emergency, tremendous success has been recorded with the recent emergencies of three Yobe students in various categories among over sixty countries across the world in the United Kingdom.

The governor also acknowledged the challenges facing the state, including over a decade of insurgency and untapped youth potential. However, he expressed confidence that vibrant youths blessed by the state would drive socioeconomic growth and development of its citizenry.

 He outlined that the present administration has prioritised training and retaining civil servants for the succession plan as many are going for retirement.

Governor Mai Mala Buni concluded by praying for peace, progress, and prosperity of the state and its people as well as Nigeria in general.
