NYG: Enabulele hails Team Edo’s resilience, celebrates podium finish
Amadin Enabulele, Executive Chairman, Edo Sports Commission has applauded Team Edo for their spirited performance and resilience, which earned the podium finish at the just-concluded 9th National Youth Games (NYG).
Enabulele described Edo’s outing at the games held in Asaba, as a demonstration of the state’s enduring strength in Nigerian sports.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that Edo finished third, clinching 33 gold, 18 silver, and 28 bronze medals.
The athletes had taken an early lead in the medals table after dominating weightlifting with nine gold medals and gymnastics with six gold medals, but were eventually overtaken by Lagos and the hosts, Delta.

VMT NEWS also reports that Lagos State emerged overall champions with 52 gold, 32 silver, and 26 bronze medals, while Delta settled for second place with 37 gold, 38 silver, and 39 bronze medals.
The chairman applauded Edo’s young athletes for making the state proud.
“Aside finishing third overall, I am impressed with the performance of our kids.
“They made us proud; it shows we have a future with them,” he said.
He said that the state remained a sports powerhouse in Nigeria, adding that the performance of the athletes would spur greater investments in grassroots sports development across the state.
VMT NEWS recalled that the games climaxed with thrilling relay events, including 4x100m, 4x400m, and medley relays.
