Nasarawa Deputy Gov, Speaker urge Eggon nation to embrace unity
Dr Emmanuel Akabe, Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, has urged the Eggon nation and others in the state to continue to live in unity and peace irrespective of their affiliations, for development to thrive.
Akabe made the call on Saturday at the inauguration of new officials of the Eggon Youth Association (EYA) in Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area.
He said the importance of peace and unity to societal progress could not be overemphasised.
“Eggon nation is blessed. Let us continue to embrace unity and peace, forget our differences and come together as one people. If there is no peace among the youths and others, there will be no development,” he said.
The deputy governor, who chaired the occasion, urged the people to continue to support Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s administration to succeed.
He also commiserated with the Eggon nation over the death of Sen. Solomon Ewuga, a former Deputy Governor of the state, and prayed for the quick recovery of Sen. Godiya Akwashiki.
Similarly, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau, commended the Aren Eggon, Retired Justice Ahmed Ubangari, for uniting Eggon youths and promoting peace.
“We must live in unity and peace for the overall development of the state. Unity should remain our focus,” Jatau said.
The speaker congratulated the newly elected EYA officials and donated a Sienna car to the association to support their operations and promote peace across the state.
On his part, the Royal Father, Ubangari lauded the electoral committee for conducting a free and fair election.
He charged the youth leaders to respect constituted authorities and work together for the progress of Eggon nation.
Also, Mr Mandy David Abuluya, President of the Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA) Worldwide, commended the Aren Eggon for his passion for peace and development.

He advised the new EYA officials to lead with transparency, accountability and the fear of God.
“The ECDA under my leadership will not tolerate any act of division. The youths must work together irrespective of political and religious affiliations for development to thrive,” Abuluya said.
Earlier, Mr Iliya Aliyu, Chairman of Nassarawa Eggon LGA, called on Eggon youths to embrace unity and tolerance for peace to reign.
In his response, the new EYA President, Mr Friday Haruna, thanked Eggon youths for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work diligently to unite and develop the association.
He also promised to reinstate the Annual Eggon Youth Day to showcase the unique talents, innovations and cultural heritage of Eggon people to the world.
