WAFCON: FCC chairman urges Super Falcons to focus on 11th title
The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hulayat Omidiran, urges Nigeria’s Super Falcons to remain focused and united as they begin their campaign for a record-extending 11th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco.
Omidiran made the call in a goodwill message to the reigning African champions, commending the team for consistently projecting Nigeria’s image positively on the continent and beyond.
She urged the players to remain united, focused and committed throughout the tournament.
“We believe in your ability to make Nigeria proud once again.
“Stay united, remain focused and continue to display the fighting spirit that has made the Super Falcons the pride of Africa,” she said.
Omidiran, a former member of the Executive Board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and former member of the FIFA Women’s Football Committee, said Nigerians were firmly behind the team in their quest for another continental title.
“As you begin your quest for another Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, I extend my unwavering support and best wishes to our gallant Super Falcons.
“The entire nation is behind you as you chase a record-extending 11th WAFCON crown,” she said.

She said the Super Falcons had consistently inspired Nigerians through their resilience, excellence and patriotism.
According to her, the team’s achievements have gone beyond football by inspiring many young Nigerian girls to aspire to careers in sports.
The FCC chairman assured the players of the prayers and support of Nigerians throughout the competition and expressed confidence that they would return home with the continental trophy.
“You have consistently inspired Nigerians with your resilience, excellence and patriotic spirit,” she said.
The Super Falcons will begin their Group B campaign against Malawi before taking on Zambia and Egypt.
Omidiran expressed optimism that the team would further consolidate its position as Africa’s most successful women’s national side by winning an unprecedented 11th WAFCON title.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that Super Falcons lost 2-3 to their Malawian counterparts in their first group encounter to put a dent on their quest to retain the title.
