Jega was at Tetfund for strategic engagement and Discussion

Former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, engaged in strategic discussions with the Executive Secretary, Arc. Sonny Echono at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund) on October 6th, 2025, marking a return to an institution he has strong historical ties to.

The meeting, described as a crucial strategic engagement, focused on key areas of national development. Discussions centered on bolstering sustainable livestock development through research and innovative practices, fostering collaboration in legislative and democratic studies, and promoting a dynamic approach to academic staff development.

Professor Jega’s visit carried particular significance given his past role as President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) during the establishment of the Education Trust Fund (ETF), the precursor to Tetfund, in 1993.

His presence underscores the enduring importance of the institution in shaping the future of Nigerian higher education and its broader impact on societal advancement.

While details of specific outcomes from the discussions remain undisclosed, the meeting signals a renewed commitment to harnessing the expertise of academics and researchers in addressing pressing challenges facing the nation. Observers anticipate further developments and collaborative initiatives stemming from this high-level dialogue.
