Yobe SUBEB in collaboration with UBEC and UNICEF embarked on enrollment drive campaign.

Yobe State Universal Basic Education Board in collaboration with Universal Basic Education Commission and UNICEF, organised a second tranche of sensitisation enrollment drive campaign to reduce out-of-school children.

 The enrollment drive campaign took place on Friday at Forest 1, behind Government Girls Senior Technical College, GGSTC, Potiskum.

 In his opening remarks, the executive chairman of the board, Alhaji Umaru Hassan  Babayo, said the campaign aims to build synergy toward community awareness on the importance of education.

 Represented by the deputy Secretary Admin Tijjani Musa, Alhaji Umaru Hassan Babayo reassured that the government has taken significant measures in addressing the shortage of classrooms, out-of-school children and girl child education, as well as completion of basic education for children in the state.

  “Noted that as part of measures to improve enrollment and retention in basic schools, government has invested heavily by employing nine hundred and forty-eight basic education teachers by governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration the chairman added.

 He used the medium and appealed to community leaders, parents and other stakeholders to join the enrolment drive campaign to reduce out-of-school children.

 In his remarks, the acting director of UBEC Bauchi zonal office, Muhammad Ibrahim Gana, said the returning children to school campaign was initiated to achieve universal education goals.

 Muhammad Ibrahim Gana reassured the readiness of the commission to continue playing a vital role in the enrolment campaign.

 In their goodwill messages, the representatives of  Parent Teachers Association, School-based management committee, local government education authority, and the National Union of Teachers highlighted the importance of girl child education and the role of parents in enrolling their children on school.

 In her closing remarks, the director of social mobilisation, Hajiya Binta Lawan Shuaibu, appreciated the efforts of the community leaders and parents for their support in achieving the aims and objectives of the campaign.
