Yobe govt engages media to curtail misinformation in integrated immunisation.

Yobe State Primary Healthcare Management Board has organised a media dialogue and social media influencers engagement on maternal and child health services and the forthcoming immunisation campaign.
Speaking on the significance of the meeting, the state director of immunisation and disease control, Dr Umar Chiroma, said media organisations are critical partners in curtailing misinformation on the integrated immunisation campaign scheduled for December 13th to 16th, 2025.

Dr Chiroma highlighted that the campaign contained two strategic maternal and child health as well as polio immunization and targeting children between the age of zero and five years.
He charges media practitioners, both mainstream and social media to contribute their quota in addressing the challenges of misinformation and other health-related interventions.
The director used the medium and commended the Yobe state government under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni and development partners for implementing the campaign consistently and making the state a centre for health tourism.
He outlined that the campaign would be carried out in ten local governments of Gujba, Gulani, Tarmuwa, Fika, Fune, Potiskum, Nangere, Bade, Nguru and Gaidam respectively.

In a remark, the Director of Information Service, who is also the chairman of the State Mobilisation and Community Engagement Working Group, Alhaji Ali Musa Yawale, highlighted the roles of media in increasing public awareness and mobilisation towards the integrated polio immunisation campaign.
He assured the readiness of the media in the effective management of information on immunisation and other health-related issues in the state.
During his presentation, Dr Ibrahim Umar outlined the project goals, findings and brief explanations to reduce infection and support children’s survival.
He said Safety and Antimicrobial Resistance of Mass Administration of Azithromycin ( SARMAAN) is a key household practices tips that include exclusive breastfeeding, essential newborn care, prevention and management of child injuries and accidents, among others.
