Group urges TETFund director to contest Adamawa Governorship in 2027
The Nigeria Indigenous Languages Development Council (NILDC), Adamawa Chapter, has urged Dr Salihu Girei, a TETFund Director, to contest the 2027 governorship election.
The council’s Chairman, Mr Joshua Napa, made the call at a news conference on Thursday in Yola.
Napa described Girei, Director of Research and Development, Centre of Excellence Department, TETFund, as competent and capable of providing credible leadership after Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri’s tenure in 2027.
He said Girei was a seasoned educationist, administrator and public servant with extensive experience in governance and human development.
According to him, Girei served under former Gov. Murtala Nyako in several capacities, including Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
He said Girei facilitated the establishment of 51 model primary schools across the 21 Local Government Areas and rehabilitated more than 4,000 classrooms statewide.
Napa added that Girei introduced free school uniforms to boost enrolment, particularly among the girl-child.

The chairman said Girei also held key positions at the Universal Basic Education Commission and TETFund in Abuja.
He stated that Girei’s academic qualifications from the University of Maiduguri, University of Jos and University of Sussex strengthened his expertise in education policy.
Napa said prioritising education, healthcare and economic development would advance the state and urged Girei to heed the call to serve.
“We are ready to mobilise support to ensure credible leadership that builds on existing achievements and moves the state forward,” he said.
