Yobe APC Congresses Hailed Peaceful and  Credible by National Screening Teams.

 By Yusuf Bukar Biriri.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully conducted its ward and local government congresses in Yobe State, with national committees overseeing the process praising its peaceful and transparent nature.

Professor David Yakubu, who served as the Ward and Local Government Screening Committee Chairman for the 2026 exercises in Yobe State, explained that his team’s primary responsibility was to verify the membership status of all aspirants.

“Upon arriving in Yobe State, we were received by the state working committee, particularly the chairman, and we immediately swung into action,” Professor Yakubu stated.

“Our job was clear: to ensure that anyone seeking to lead the party at any level is first and foremost a registered member. You cannot lead in a political party where you are not a member.”

Professor Yakubu confirmed that his committee screened aspirants from all 178 wards in the state.

“We can tell you that all candidates who aspired were screened, and we confirmed they are genuine members of our party. With that verification, we gave them our blessing to go to the field and contest.”

The screening process was conducted by a team that included the committee’s secretary, Rear Admiral Adefemi Kayode (Rtd.), as well as members Elijah Sarki and Helene Tukura.

Following the screening, the exercise proceeded to congresses, which were monitored by separate national teams. The transparency of the process was underscored by the Screening Appeal Committee, which reported receiving no petitions.

Dr. Francis Okoye, Chairman of the Screening and Appeal Committee and a first-time visitor to the state from Anambra, lauded the exercise. “From what we have observed in the last 48 hours, Yobe State is one of the most peaceful and united states where the APC is operating,” Dr. Okoye said.

“I can confirm that because nobody wrote any petition to my committee. The exercise performed by the screening committee led by Professor Yakubu was excellent and very clean. That is why no one had any reason to appeal. We judge it as one of the best states we have visited for this exercise.”

The actual conduct of the congresses was managed by the Ward and Local Government Congresses Committee, led by Engineer Dr. Murtala R. Abedarma and his seven-member team. He attributed the smooth operation across all 178 wards to the cooperative environment fostered by the state’s leadership.

“Everything went successfully, and we were able to do our work without any rancor,” Engineer Abedarma noted. “Perhaps it is because the governor of the state is a devout party man who was a former secretary and acting chairman of the party.

He knows the ins and outs of these activities and made it very simple for us. We also thank the state APC working committee for ensuring we were comfortable.”

Engineer Abedarma confirmed that while the results from all 178 wards had been collated, they were pending final signatures and would be formally submitted to the party after an evening break.

Professor Yakubu concluded by thanking all participants for their cooperation, before formally handing over to the chairmen of the subsequent committees to provide their reports on the overall success of the exercise.

The party chairman, Alhaji Mohammad Gadaka, said: “The chairmen of the committees and their members are all here. Each of them has briefed us, and we are convinced by the support they are giving us, based on what they saw in the film.

We, in the state, wish to express our gratitude. At the same time, we will explore ways to collaborate further to ensure a successful future for the United States under the All-Progressives Congress. Perhaps in the next Congress, there will be no need to look elsewhere or say you are here for this purpose.

I am confident that everything will come together as the states unite under the APC. We are deeply grateful to our leader, who is always there for us and advises us to remain patient with one another.
