The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has concluded a massive, 14-day “offensive action” across the Federal Capital Territory, resulting in the dismantling of several notorious drug bunks and the arrest of 132 suspects.

The operation, which spanned from April 11 to April 25, 2026, saw operatives recover approximately 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances.
The crackdown targeted high-risk hubs across the city, aiming to curb the rising tide of substance abuse and its linked criminal activities in the nation’s capital.
A City-Wide Sweep -Following weeks of intense intelligence gathering and surveillance, a joint team from the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command raided hotspots in nearly every corner of the territory.
The sweep covered areas including:
-High-density hubs: Gwarinpa, Kubwa, and Gwagwalada.
-Central districts: Area 3, Wuse Zone 4, and Garki Area 10.
-Satellite towns and outskirts: Dei-Dei, Kwali, Apo, and the Suleja axis.
-Informal settlements: Torabora hills and Durumi.
Seizures and Resistance-The inventory of seized drugs highlights the variety of narcotics flooding the city’s streets. Of the 220kg recovered, the bulk consisted of **214.79kg of “Skunk”** (a potent cannabis strain). Other seizures included significant quantities of Diazepam, Tramadol, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, and Codeine syrup.

The operation was not without its challenges. In Durumi Area 1 and the Suleja market, NDLEA operatives faced “stiff resistance” from organized syndicates. However, the agency reported that its officers utilized superior tactics and professionalism to subdue the groups without any casualties, effectively shattering their local distribution networks.

“No Safe Haven”
Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, lauded the officers for their resilience in what he described as a vital mission to “clean up” the capital.
“This operational model must be replicated across other high-risk urban centers,” Marwa stated.
“We will sustain the pressure on drug cartels to effectively suppress both the demand and supply of illicit substances nationwide.”
DCGN Ahmed Sule Ningi, Director of Operations, briefed the Chairman on the success of the raids, noting that the agency’s focus now shifts to maintaining operational pressure to ensure these dismantled “joints” do not resurface.
The 132 suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be charged in court following the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
