First lady rollouts 370.000 disposable sanitary pads to school girls.

The first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has launched the distribution of disposable sanitary pads to school girls across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Theme empowering school girls through menstrual health took place at Yobe Children Academy in Damaturu.

Represented by the acting state coordinator, Renewed Hope Initiative, Dr Mairo Ahmad Amshi, said the donation of three hundred and seventy thousand disposable sanitary pads to school girls is part of the flow with confidence initiative of the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Senator Oluremi stated that menstrual flow is a sign of a healthy condition of girls, noting to shame, assuring government commitment to continue support for the girl child education initiative.
She highlighted that many rural girls use unsafe alternatives that risk infectious disease, while school girls stay home entirely during their period, which results in dropouts.
Remi Tinubu further added that the initiative was also meant to restore confidence, reduce stigma and improve menstrual hygiene.
The first lady commended Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration for aligning with federal government initiatives in the girl child education.
Earlier, the state commissioner of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Dr Mairo Ahmed Amshi, represented by Director of Disaster Aisha Wali, said the donation will address school girls’ challenges and encourage enrollment.
Dr Mairo used the medium and commended the first lady senator Oluremi Tinubu and Hajiya Hafsat Buni Kollere for their passion in uplifting the healthier condition of girl child in the society.

Also contributing, a representative of the national drugs law enforcement agency NDLEA Ahmad Idriss charged students, especially children, to distance themselves from any form of drug abuse for a prosperous and healthier society.
Ahmad Idriss advised parents and caregivers to prioritise the proper upbringing of their children for the progress and development of the state.
In their separate remarks ,the permanent secretary the Ministry of Information, Hajiya Salamatu Yahaya Nangere and the executive director council for art and culture Hajiya Husna Ibrahim , advocates for girl child education and use the medium to commend Governor Mai Mala Buni for giving topmost priority to girl child education and their welfare in the state.
