Police arrest suspected drug peddler, recover illicit drugs in Delta

The Police Command in Delta has arrested a suspected female drug peddler and recovered quantities of illicit drugs in Agbor, Ika South Local Government area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Asaba.

Edafe said operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Ubulu-Uku, arrested a 40-year-old suspect during a covert operation in Agbor.

According to him, the arrest was carried out on Sept. 6, following a credible intelligence received by the operatives about some suspected drug peddling activities in the area.

“On Sept. 6, at about 0500hrs, operatives of SAKU, acting on credible information arrested a drug peddler, aged 40, ” he said.

The PPRO said a search warrant was subsequently executed at the suspect’s residence in Agbor-Obi, leading to the recovery of various suspected illicit drugs.

“A search warrant was executed at her residence in Agbor-Obi, where quantities of Swinol, Tramadol, Codeine, Canadian Loud and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered,” Edafe said.

He said the suspect and the recovered exhibits were in police custody, while investigation into the case was still ongoing.

Edafe quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Erale, as assuring residents of the command’s commitment to track down persons involved in criminal activities.

The commissioner urged members of the public to provide useful information that could assist the police in preventing and fighting crime across the state.
