TETFund Reaffirms Commitment to Digital Inclusion and Youth Empowerment at Anambra Event

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has reaffirmed its dedication to building Nigeria’s human capital and advancing a knowledge-driven economy through strategic partnerships and targeted educational infrastructure.

Speaking at the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South East Zone and the commissioning of the Renewed Hope Initiative ICT Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono, described the dual initiatives as vital contributions to national development.

According to Arc. Echono, the establishment of the ICT Experience Centre aligns directly with TETFund’s core mandate of equipping tertiary institutions with modern digital tools.

He noted that the centre represents far more than a physical facility, characterizing it as a crucial investment in young Nigerians that will empower them to turn innovative ideas into practical solutions, skills into sustainable livelihoods, and aspirations into real economic opportunities.

While commending the Mother of the Nation, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for driving the Renewed Hope Initiative, the TETFund boss highlighted how the project empowers Nigerian youth to become principal actors in shaping the country’s economic future rather than mere passive beneficiaries.

Arc. Echono also acknowledged the broader social impact of the accompanying National Community Food Bank Programme, praising the First Lady’s compassionate response to providing social protection and dignity to vulnerable households.

He emphasized that combining immediate social welfare support with long-term digital skill acquisition demonstrates purposeful leadership that tackles present challenges while simultaneously building a foundation for tomorrow.

Reiterating the Fund’s unwavering support, the Executive Secretary expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing an enabling policy environment for people-centred interventions.

He assured stakeholders—including the government and people of Anambra State—that TETFund will continue to foster partnerships that widen digital inclusion, nurture local talent, and unlock creative frontiers for youth across Nigerian higher institutions.
