Bandits Attack: Katsina Police deploy armoured vehicle to Funtua

The Katsina State Police Command has deployed additional personnel and Armoured Personnel Carrier in Funtua to strengthen security in the area.

The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Umar-Fage, announced this at a stakeholders security meeting in Funtua on Wednesday.

The meeting was organised by the Police Command in collaboration with the state Government and other key stakeholders.

According to the Commissioner, the meeting aimed to review the security situation in Funtua zone comprising Faskari, Sabuwa and Dandume local government areas.

The meeting also focused on addressing the growing misuse of social media platforms to spread misinformation capable of causing panic and undermining security operations.

Umar-Fage reaffirmed the command’s commitment to operational excellence and the protection of lives and property in Funtua zone and across the state.

He urged members of the public to remain calm, law-abiding, and vigilant, stressing the importance of verifying information before sharing it online.

The Commissioner urged residents to report suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station for prompt action.

The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that after reviewing the security situation in the Funtua zone, participants resolved to intensify joint operations, intelligence sharing, and rapid response mechanisms across affected areas in the zone.

The meeting was attended by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, representatives of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), traditional and religious leaders, all the four local  government council chairmen in the zone.
