Alheri, Airan Intl School Win ACS Exhibition Contest In Sokoto

Two students of Alheri scholols Guiwa and a student of Airan Intl School Bado , Sokoto state respectively have won American Chemical Society (ACS) Sokoto State University , 2021 Global exhibition contest.
The exhibition which had 8 contestants with different inventions seen Ahmed Mohammed of Alheri schools came first , while Safiya Aminu of Airan International school came second and also Fatima Bala of Alheri schools emerged third.
The first position won N120,000 , Second position went home with N100,000 while Third position got N80000 aside N10000 each from the department of Chemistry.
In his remark the Head of Department Of Chemistry (HOD) and Dean Faculty of Science Sokoto State University, Dr Mansur Yahaya and Prof Muhammad Surajo said the vision of the competition is to give all eligible science students in the state to participate in the competition, thus improving their performance in Chemistry.

They further added that ACS initiative is to arouse and reawakening interest in chemistry among secondary School students as a road map to nation’s building.
On her part the commissioner of science and technology Dr Kulu Abubakar represented by Hajia Khadija Ibrahim Bako said the competition is a good step in a right direction stressing that practical in science subjects or courses should be put above theories.
She explained that the competition should be routine in order to harness students talent for national development.
Also speaking the commissioner of higher education Prof Bashir Garba represented by Dr Saidu Isa encouraged the participating students to do more.
Garba advised them to study hard saying with what he saw the future is bright
Earlier the vice chancellor , Sokoto State University, (SSU) Prof Muhammad Sani Dangoggo represented by Dean Faculty of Education Prof Nasir Ibrahim Tambuwal thanked ACS for organising the competition, noting that the gesture will improve the students practical skills in science subjects.
