Anambra ICT agency targets AI Apps

Mr Chukwuemeka Agbata, the Managing Director,  Anambra State Information Communication Technology (AICT) Agency, says the agency will soon begin development of AI.natives.

Agbata said this during the Second Tenure Team Retreat 2026 organised for the staff members of the Agency in Awka on Wednesday.

The theme of the retreat was “The Next Four Years: Becoming Nigeria’s First AI-Native ICT Agency”.

Agbata described AI-Native as a system that is built from the scratch with Artificial Intelligence as its core foundation instead if mere application of AI tools.

He appreciated God for the opportunity to continue to serve the people of Anambra and called the staff of the agency to embrace the progressive evolution of the digital age.

Agbata said Artificial Intelligence possessed the capacity to transform governance and digital service delivery in Anambra and beyond.

“The Agency’s operations will be heavily driven by Artificial Intelligence, there is a need for staff to intentionally build competence in AI tools and digital systems.

“This is what will make us remain relevant in a rapidly evolving technology ecosystem. The Agency must become more creative, efficient, prudent, and execution-driven in delivering digital solutions for Anambra State.

“We must use AI intelligently, execute with speed, and do things differently,” he said.

Also speaking, Chinonso Okoye, the Chief Technology Officer in the Agency said it would strive to compete globally as an AI-first institution.

Okoye said governments across the world were leveraging AI to improve efficiency, automate public services, and drive smarter governance systems.

“Our strategic direction as an Agency over the next four years will focus on strengthening internal AI competence and deploying digital solutions to transform public service delivery,” he said.

Mr Sunday Folayan, the AICT Agency Technical Adviser, urged participants to align themselves with and be intentional towards achieving digital transformation goals.
