Army dismisses soldier for sleeping with colleague’s wife
Military authorities in Nigeria have reportedly dismissed a soldier from the Nigerian Army after he was found guilty of engaging in an extramarital affair with his colleague’s wife.
The Lance Corporal, identified as Abdullahi, was dismissed during the week at 231 Battalion in Biu, Borno State, according to multiple sources.
The soldier’s dismissal comes as a consequence of his involvement in an affair with a fellow soldier’s wife, a breach of military conduct.
“Sources familiar with the matter stated that Abdullahi had a history of sexual indiscipline before facing disciplinary action”.
“The offense of engaging in an extramarital affair with a colleague’s spouse, categorized as indecent professional misconduct, violates Sections 79 and 93 of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004”.
The law prescribes both a jail term and dismissal from service with dishonor as penalties for such misconduct.
The dismissal of Abdullahi serves as a stern warning to other military personnel involved in similar acts, which have become increasingly common within barracks.
Military authorities aim to uphold discipline and integrity within the armed forces by enforcing strict consequences for violations of conduct.
Despite attempts to reach the army’s spokesperson, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, for comment on the incident, his mobile line was unreachable.
