Bauchi community looted essential item in our truck load food- BUA
The Recovery Officer of BUA Transport Alhaji Salisu Hamza Ahmed has explained that their truck carrying food and other items was looted in Dabe Village in Bauchi State when the vehicle had accident in the Federal Highway.
Ahmed gave the explanation when he reacted to a story in which Bauchi State Government rewarded the community for protecting the essential items in the truck when it had accident in the area.
He said the truck was conveying the items from its destination to a ware house in Azare Headquarters of Katagum.Local Government area when the tire of the truck busted and the truck fell down.
He said The incident occurred between 8am and 9 am in the village up to 1am in the night they are battling with people not to loot the items but they refused.
Recovery officer alleged that residents, including women, old and children, seized the opportunity to help themselves to the trailer’s cargo. 2932 cartons of spaghetti were among the loot.
Ahmed said they brought a vehicle that the items in the truck will be uploaded to and they invited police to help them to protect the items but people over powered them.even passer by took cartons of spaghetti from the accident truck.
He said they thank the almighty Allah because no one lost his life, and the lost nearly 3000 cartons and deliver only 1500 cartons to Azare.
Recovery officer said probably the government were misled that’s the reason why they try to reward the community.
