Breaking: FHC Clears APC’s Bwacha for Saturday Guber polls

Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo

The Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo on Wednesday night cleared the air and declared Senator Emmanuel Bwacha as the authentic governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC ahead of the March 18th general election.

The APC and Bwacha had approached the Court to clear the air following information making the rounds that his name was not listed as the candidate of the party despite a rerun primaries where he emerged as the winner.

Justice Bala KS Usman of the FHC Jalingo in his ruling said that INEC has no legal right to de-list Bwacha’s name on their portal since the APC acted in accordance to the trial court order that a fresh Primary be conducted.

The independent national electoral Commission INEC while testifying in court, denied de-listing Bwacha’s name on their website. INEC said that after a fresh primary of the party for the position was conducted and monitored by the Commission, they immediately uploaded the candidate’s name as the authentic governorship candidate of the party and his name remains on their website as authentic governorship candidate of APC for Taraba state.

Reacting to the judgment, the spokesperson of the Bwacha Campaign Council Mr Aaron Artimas said that it was necessary for the candidate to clear the air on the issue since the opposition was using it to create confusion and dissuade party members and Bwacha’s followers.

Artimas hailed the judgment and said it has put to rest the cheap propaganda funded by the opposition to de-market their candidate.

“The PDP is jittery and desperate to mislead the people since they know that they are not marketable. The court has put it to rest the needless controversies. This victory represents a lot for the people who have suffered so much in the hands of the PDP and their cheap propaganda.

“I want to tell all Tarabans in unambiguous terms that Bwacha is the APC governorship candidate, his name is on the INEC Portal, the court and INEC have cleared the fake news being spread by the PDP against Bwacha and APC.

“It is sad that we have to go this far just because the PDP has nothing to offer and are desperate to create confusion among the APC followers. Even the governor could not go out and campaign for his candidate because he knows no one will believe him. In the same vein, the candidate has shown that he does not have confidence in the achievements of the governor that is why he is not talking about his achievements

“Our candidate has vast experience in service at various levels that have equipped him with the needed training to steer the state in the right direction. We would tackle the issues of local government administration, pensioners, revive the health, education, agriculture and other key sectors once elected.

“Let me call on our teaming supporters to keep the flag flying. Come March 18th, we would peacefully but definitely coast to victory. In the meantime, I urge all our people to remain calm and law-abiding and to avoid any form of confrontation. The opposition is on the edge and would capitalize on anything to create confusion” Artimas said.
