Centenary Plus: Idoma Leaders Call for Unity, Collective Investment to Transform Homeland

…Och’Idoma Forum Hosts Landmark Summit to Chart New Era for Idoma Nation

In a historic gathering aimed at charting a new developmental roadmap for the Idoma nation, elites, professionals, and leaders converged for the landmark “Centenary Plus” celebration.

Organized by the Och’Idoma Forum—the apex socio-cultural body of the Idoma people—the event was themed,“A People and Their Professional Choices.”

The forum served as a reflective platform to probe the relentless, selfless contributions of the Idoma people to national development, while addressing critical contemporary challenges facing the region.

The event marks the very first time a socio-cultural forum of this magnitude and intellectual depth has been convened in the zone.

A Call for Unity and Elitist Renaissance

Delivering the keynote addresses, prominent Idoma sons Arc. Sonny Echono and Chief Godwin Obla, SAN, paid glowing tributes to the sacrifices of the Idoma nation’s founding fathers.

They challenged the present-day elite to move beyond rhetoric and actively rally resources toward developing local communities and Benue State at large.

Arc. Echono made an impassioned plea for collective action, emphasizing the untapped potential of the region.

“If we can pull all our resources—human, material, and financial—together, Idoma land will make this place a pride,” Echono stated.

Royal Concern Over Insecurity

The Paramount Ruler of the Idoma Nation, His Royal Majesty, Agaba Idu John Elaigwu Odogbo, used the platform to address the pressing issue of safety in his domain.

Decrying the current wave of insecurity plaguing the region, the royal father made a direct appeal to security agencies and relevant authorities to brace up and drastically reduce the menace, which he noted has hindered socio-economic growth.

Government Pledges Support

In a show of state solidarity, the Benue State Governor, represented by his Deputy, Chief Sam Ode, commended the Och’Idoma Forum for organizing an event of such national significance.

Ode praised the organizers for their commitment to nation-building and reassured the gathering of the current administration’s unwavering determination to sustain good governance, foster equity, and drive development across all zones of Benue State.

Key Takeaways from the Forum

Historical Milestone: First-of-its-kind mega-forum for the Idoma intelligentsia and leadership.

Economic Blueprint: A unified call to pool human and financial capital to transform Idoma land into an economic hub.

Security Priority: Urgent royal appeal for government intervention against local security threats.
