Chairman pledges more PHC upgrades Ifako-Ijaiye LG
Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye LGA of Lagos State, Usman Hamzat, pledges further upgrades of Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) across the council area to improve healthcare delivery.
The commitment is contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the council chairman’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Lateef Salaam.
Hamzat made the pledge during an inspection tour of selected Primary Healthcare Centres in the Local Government Area.
The exercise assessed facility conditions, audited medical equipment requirements and identified critical infrastructure upgrades needed to meet modern healthcare standards.
Facilities inspected included the Primary Healthcare Centre at Aina Ajobo, Ogba, and the Obawole Primary Healthcare Centre at Ashabi Taiwo.
The chairman was accompanied by senior council officials and technical personnel involved in health and infrastructure management.
Members of the delegation included Vice Chairman, Mrs Oluwatoyin Awoniyi-Akerele, Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abolaji Taiwo, and Medical Officer of Health, Dr Elizabeth Fatuyi.
Also present were the Council Engineer, Supervisory Councillors and Special Advisers, who participated in the facility assessment exercise.

Hamzat said findings from the inspection would guide targeted interventions aimed at enhancing service delivery and improving patient experience across all PHCs.
He recalled that his administration rehabilitated all Primary Healthcare Centres in the council during his first term about three years ago.
According to him, the facilities were equipped and furnished with modern medical equipment and administrative assets worth millions of naira.
“Our commitment to the health and well-being of Ifako-Ijaiye residents remains unwavering.
“Continuous maintenance and proactive upgrades of health infrastructure will remain a top priority of this administration,” Hamzat said.
Hamzat assured residents that recommendations arising from the inspection would be implemented promptly to strengthen primary healthcare delivery throughout the council area.
Also, Dr Fatuyi said the assessment identified several priority areas requiring urgent attention to sustain efficient healthcare services.
She listed equipment shortages, facility maintenance challenges and staff welfare concerns among issues requiring immediate intervention.
