Delta unveils digital projects tracking portal for accountability
The Delta Government on Friday unveiled its digital projects tracking portal as part of a digital governance initiative to ensure transparency, public accountability and access to information on projects executed across the state.
The Executive Assistant to Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori on New Media, Mr Felix Ofou, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Asaba.
He said the briefing was to highlight the activities and achievements of the New Media and the State Webmaster’s Office, particularly the digital infrastructure being developed to improve governance and public access to government information.
He disclosed that the New Media Office was responsible for the introduction of the online affidavit system adopted by the state government.
He described the development as one of the digital innovations aimed at making government services more accessible.
On infrastructure development, Ofou said the Oborevwori-led administration had renovated more than 150 primary healthcare centres, while several schools across the state had also undergone extensive renovation.
According to Ofou, all the roads, housing and other projects executed by the state government have been harnessed and assembled into the digital portal for the public to access with ease.
On his part, the State Webmaster, Mr Louis Osiobe, said Delta had recorded significant improvements in its digital presence and cybersecurity infrastructure.
He disclosed that the state won the Best Government Website Award in 2025, adding that its official website has been rated among the two best state government websites in Nigeria.
Osiobe said: “the state website has an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered self-reading feature and has attracted more than 40,000 organic visits through Google searches.”
He said the website had been attacked several times but had security features that had prevented and reduced cyberattacks significantly from about 70,000 in 2025 to approximately 30,000 presently.
On the projects tracking portal, Osiobe said the state government had developed a centralised digital database containing information on more than 2,000 government-executed projects across the 25 local government areas.
He explained that the projects were captured on the Delta State Projects Tracking Portal, accessible through http://project.deltastate.gov.ng, with Google Maps integration to enable users to identify project locations and access relevant details.

According to Osiobe, the portal provides information on projects across the state’s local government areas, with each council area recording at least 50 projects based on the figures presented at the briefing.
He added that more than 75 per cent of the projects captured on the platform were reported to have been completed.
“The portal provides project status information and geographical locations, enabling residents, journalists, stakeholders and development partners to monitor reported implementation progress and scrutinise government activities,” he said.
The webmaster said the initiative represented a shift from merely announcing government projects to providing an accessible digital platform through which members of the public could examine project details, locations and reported completion status.
Osiobe said the state would soon launch “Delta Chat,” an indigenous digital communication platform designed to provide messaging and information-verification services.
He explained that the platform would enable users to verify information about government projects in different parts of the state through its geographical positioning feature.
According to him, Delta Chat will incorporate instant messaging and other social media communication features, alongside end-to-end encryption to strengthen users’ privacy and security.
Osiobe said the project development had been on for about three years, adding that it would soon be unveiled for public use.
He expressed optimism that the platform would improve information access, strengthen digital communication and provide residents with another means of verifying government projects across the state.
