DG Urges Corps Members To Promote National Unity

The Director General of National Service Youth Service Corp (NYSC ) Maj General Shuaibu Ibrahim has advised Corps Members to utilise the opportunities of the service year to uphold national unity and preach peaceful coexistence among Nigerians as the scheme was established for such purpose.


Shuaibu stated this at the.swearing in of 2022 Batch A stream 2 Corps Members .
Represented by the Sokoto State NYSC Coordinator Alhaji Muhammad Nakamba Shuaibu said the scheme was established to foster national unity.


“As you already aware , one of the major objectives of NYSC is the promotion of national unity and integration he stated.
He noted that the oath of allegiance taken by the corps members is to guide them in the service year and also having.everlasting influence on their lives after service.


The DG implored them to sustain high level of discipline and enthusiasm demonstrated so far , especially by complying with the camp rules and regulations.
He reminded them that social vices such as drug abuse, cultism and misconducts would not be tolerated by the scheme.

He also reminded them that white collar jobs are not ready available hence the need to maximize skill aquisition and entrepreneurship development program (SAED) of the scheme stressing the NYSC management would continue to work with relevant stakeholders for the success of the program.


He enjoined them to strictly adhere to Covid19 protocols during and after the camp.
Earlier the state coordinator Alhaji Muhammad Nakamba in his speech delivered by the camp director Daniel Akpala urged the corps members to participate in all camp activities.


He noted that though camp activities are regimental but there is need  to participate in it to enable them qualify for posting  after the orientation exercise.


He thanked the Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Waziri Tambuwal , His Eminence Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar , the Nigeria Army , paramilitaries, and other stakeholders for their unflinching support to the scheme.


The chief judge of Sokoto State Justice Muhammad Sa’idu Sifawa represented by the senior magistrate Muhammad Nura Bello Gwadabawa administered the oath of allegiance on 1464 corps members comprising 864 males and 600 females .
