FG DONATES FACILITIES TO HIDES AND SKIN MERCHANTS IN ZAMFARA
The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) on Friday donated common facilities to Hides and Skin Merchants in Zamfara.
The state Commissioner for Forestry and Livestock Development, Dr Ibrahim Abdullahi, handling over the items in Gusau said it was to boost the sector.
Abdullahi urged beneficiaries to utilise the facilities given to them judiciously.
He commended the ministry for the kind gesture to support agriculture and rural development in the state.
Abdullahi assured the state government’s continued cooperation and partnership with the state branch of the Ministry of Agriculture in order to achieve the desired goal and objectives.

Earlier, the Director in charge of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture Office, Gusau, Dr Musa Raji said the support was part of activities of the ministry through the department of Animal Husbandry Services.
Raji said the items donated comprised Wooden Pallet, Pallet Jack Irons, Wheels Barrows, Metal Buckets, Troller Irons and Protective Aprons.
He said the remaining items were Flying Knifes, Protective Gloves, Sharpening Steels, Water Cans and Rainboots.
“You know hides and skin value chain is one of the priority programmes of the ministry.
“Before now, the department was only rendering services of industrial salt to hides and skin merchants to cure the hides to have the quality product.
“This year, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr Mohammad Abubakar has mandated us to distribute these facilities to hides and skin cluster to enable them operate effectively and enhance their livelihood and productivity,’’ he said.
Responding while receiving the items, the Chairman Hides and Skin Merchants in Zamfara, Alhaji Yusufa Adam commended the Federal Government for the gesture.
Adam assured judicious distribution and utilisation of the facilities to all beneficiaries.
