Gombe Governor Reconstitutes Committee to Preserve State’s Museums, Monuments
…Emir of Gombe to Chair Committee, Drive Heritage Conservation
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has approved the reconstitution of the Committee on the Preservation of Museums and Monuments in the state, in a renewed effort to safeguard and promote the State’s historical and cultural heritage.
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the Governor’s approval, announced that the Emir of Gombe, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR, will chair the committee, while the Commissioner for Information , Strategy and Culture will serve as Deputy Chairman.

Other members are the State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON); the Director-General of Gombe Media Corporation; Elder statesman Alhaji Yaya Hammari (Wazirin Yeriman Gombe); Mr. Yakubu Sarma, Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties; Dr. Usman Isa Ya’u, historian; and Alhaji Abdulfatah Aliyu (Dan Amar Kaltungo).
The Head of the Civil Service, Professor Muazu Shehu, will serve as Secretary.
According to the SSG, the composition of the committee reflects Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s recognition of the importance of preserving the historical records, monuments and cultural assets that embody the identity and collective memory of the people of Gombe State, ensuring that important landmarks are not lost to time, but are properly preserved and passed on to future generations.
The appointments take immediate effect.
