Gov. Buni Expands Yobe’s Road Network, Awards Contracts for Three Key Infrastructure Projects
The Yobe State Government has officially signed contracts for three major road infrastructure projects aimed at modernizing the state’s transportation network and boosting economic activities across multiple communities.
The agreements were formally signed on Thursday at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Works in Damaturu, the state capital.

The Honourable Commissioner for Works, Engr. Umar Wakili, signed the documents on behalf of the state government, while Mr. Adamu Sallau of Elegance Construction Nigeria Limited represented the contracting firms.
The newly approved projects target critical corridors within the state. They include the repair and asphalt overlay of the Kalallawa–Kaliyari Road, the reconstruction of the Tetteba–Gulani Road—which features a 7-kilometer spur to Garin Tuwo—and the completion of a 7-kilometer asphalt overlay on the Damagum–Gubana Road.

According to state officials, the projects are a central component of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s broader infrastructure agenda, which focuses on bridging regional development gaps and connecting rural agricultural hubs with urban trade centers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Engr. Wakili emphasized that the administration selected these specific routes to tackle long-standing transportation bottlenecks. He noted that the completed roads are expected to lower transit costs, reduce travel times, and provide local farmers and traders with better access to regional markets, ultimately stimulating the local economy.
On behalf of the construction firms, Mr. Sallau expressed gratitude to the state government for the opportunity. He assured officials and residents that the projects would be executed strictly according to approved engineering standards and delivered within the contractually stipulated timeframes.
Local residents have expressed optimism regarding the announcement, noting that the upgrades will significantly improve safety and mobility once construction gets underway.
