A civic organization, Advocates for Democracy and Development (ADD), has berated those advocating for the military to overthrow the civilian government for their unpatriotic moves, referring to them as individuals who have been benefiting from the security challenges in the nation.

In a press statement, on Monday, the CSO asserted that the instigators of the coup are attempting to sow disorder in society, especially now that the Nigerian Armed Forces, led by General Chris Gwabin Musa, are making significant strides in combating bandits, terrorists, and other criminal elements.

ADD labeled the coup proponents as malevolent and regressive, asserting that they do not have the country’s best interests at heart.

The CSO, in its press release, praised the Chief of Defence Staff for issuing a strong warning against anyone promoting a coup d’état.

Convener of the group, Gbenga Osho, highlighted that the military is diligently making sacrifices to ensure the nation’s safety and security, while certain malicious individuals seek to foment further turmoil.

The group expressed satisfaction that the Nigerian military has played a crucial role in advancing democracy within the country, it noted further that, the present leadership of the Armed Forces of Nigeria under General Chris Gwabin Musa has asserted the Military’s loyalty to the constitution and the President and Commander in Chief, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

“We in ADD urge Nigerians to continue to support the military under Gen Chris Musa who have shown determination to quickly restore peace and stability and remain loyal to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Osho added.

Recall that the CDS also branded the coup instigators as “enemies of Nigeria” and vowed that they would face the full force of the law.

According to General Musa, “Anyone advocating for a coup does not hold Nigeria’s interests dear. We want to emphasize that the Armed Forces of Nigeria are committed to upholding democracy.”
