HILWA condems Jangebe abduction, calls for intensify effort to rescue the students

The High Level Women Advocates (HILWA) an NGO has condemned the abduction of 317 female students of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The unknown gunmen had in the early hours of Friday attacked Jangebe town abducted 317 girls students at Government Girl’s Science Secondary School Jangebe.

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Friday by the HILWA Chairperson in the state, Hajiya Suwaiba Barau.

Barau described the incident as devastating and a huge setback for Girls Child Education  in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

“This unfortunate incident occurred at a time when we are working day and night to ensure no girl is left out of school for a better society.

“It is worth mentioning that the recent acts of attacking and abducting students in the country could lead to unbecoming set back to education.

“There is a high need for more effective collaboration and proper synergy amongst security agencies and communities across board to work together with a view to securing all schools”, she said.

“They should work to ensure addressing banditry and other criminal activities in the country especially in the North West Geopolitical Zone.

“These menace of insecurity need to be adequately addressed, community policing ought to be encouraged as it will greatly assist conventional security architecture in dealing with the current situation in the country.

“The ongoing effort of the Nigerian security agencies, state government, community leaders and other stakeholders need to be supported by all with a view to rescuing the girls unhurt and alive”, HILWA Chairperson explained.
