Insecurity: Matawalle cautions media houses against unverified reports
Gov Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has called on media houses within and outside the state to always verify information before publishing their reports.
Matawalle made the call at a statewide broadcast in Gusau on Tuesday.
He said that the state government noted with dismay over some unverified reports on both broadcast and prints media houses on security situation in the state.
“We appreciate the efforts of working Journalists in the state to the ongoing peace diologue process with bandits, but we want to be professional always while carrying out your duties”, Matawalle said.
He also condemned social platforms for spreading fake news on insecurity which he described as sabotage to the efforts of government and security agencies in addressing the dwindling security challenges in the state.

Matawalle described his recent visit to the President Muhammad Buhari over recent security challenges faced by the state as a fruitful.
“You know, my four days working visit in Abuja led to the introduction of several security measures by the federal government.
“I am calling on people of the state to comply with government and security agencies while implementing the measures”, Gov added.
