Lagos teams shine at Ardova Handball Premier League in Benin
Lagos teams were at their best on Thursday as they all defeated formidable opponents to better their chances in the ongoing Ardova Handball Premier League in Benin.
Tojemarine, a privately-owned team, defeated the reigning champions, Kano Pillars 23-19, Seasiders Babes beat Bayelsa Queens 26-25, while Lagos Seasiders defeated Niger United 21-20.

In the Pillars versus Tojemarine game, Pillars led 11-10 at the end of a keenly-contested first half, but Tojemarime stepped up their game at the resumption of the second half, dominating on both ends of the court.
The reigning champions who survived Niger United onslaught on Wednesday were, however, unlucky against the Lagos side which overturned the first half deficit to emerge victorious.
In other games played, De Defenders beat Benue Buffaloes 22-21, Confluence Stars defeated Police Machine 33-29, while Correction Boys lost to Rima Strikers 24-33.
In the women’s category, Plateau Peacocks lost to Safety Babes 27-28, a game that could have gone either way.

Tojemarine coach, Bright Agubata, said that the victory was a good one for his team, noting that such performances will spur his team to victory.
“It was a great performance by the boys. Efforts like this will help us do well in the league.
“It is a marathon and hopefully we will be strong till the end. Other teams have also been fantastic and competition has been stiff,” said the coach.
