The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) observed International Women’s Day on March 8, 2024, at Camp 27 in N’Djamena, Chad, with a ceremony led by Force Commander Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali to show solidarity with female staff members.

During his address, General Ali emphasized the importance of this year’s theme, “Invest in women to accelerate progress,” stressing the need to invest in women’s education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and leadership development to expedite progress towards gender equality.

General Ali highlighted that empowering women not only benefits their individual opportunities but also drives positive societal and economic transformations within communities and nations.

Underlining the MNJTF’s commitment to women’s rights, General Ali reiterated the Task Force’s dedication to safeguarding women and girls from terrorism and other criminal threats, ensuring their safety and well-being.

In her remarks, Christiana Idem, the Gender Focal Officer of the African Union Mission Support Team for the MNJTF, praised the Task Force’s acknowledgment of women’s crucial role in its operations. She reaffirmed the dedication of female personnel to assist the MNJTF in fulfilling its mission.

The event at Camp 27 served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of women within the MNJTF and reiterate the collective commitment to advancing gender equality and empowerment both within the Task Force and the communities it serves.
