NAPTIP Trains Sokoto Security Personnel On Identification, Reintegration Of Trafficked Children

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) Sokoto Zonal Command in collaboration with Access to Justice Project For the Vulnerable Children and Children on the Move with support from European Union, flagged off a 2 day capacity building for security personnel in two local governments of the Sokoto State. 

The capacity building which has in attendance protection officers from Sokoto North and Illela local government areas of Sokoto State is geared towards, “victims indentification and reintegration of trafficked and vulnerable children by child protection officers”.

Speaking in his welcome address, the Sokoto Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Abubakar Abdullahi Tabara said, protecting children is a responsibility for all. 

Tabara further insisted that, participants who are security personnel from the various agencies were carefully drawn from the two local government of Illela and Sokoto South to help equip them with better understanding of how to approach cases of trafficked and vulnerable children. 

Giving objectives of the 2 day training, Sanusi Abubakar Mohammed from NAPTIP called on security personnel to be passionate and employ humanity.

Delivering lectures on, “Case Management”, one of the  Resource Persons, Mr Joseph Julius from NEEM Foundation appealed to all stakeholders to take positive action towards preventing Gender Based Violence (GBV) in their respective societies. 

While noting that security officers should see themselves as the social workers they are, Mr Julius advised that there is therefore the need for them to understand the dynamics of case management, to be able to effectively arrive at solutions.

According to Julius, Case Management entails a process of assisting individuals, their family or relative through direct support and or referral to other needed services with the aim of achieving the desired goals. 

Listing the components of 

“Case Management”, Mr Julius said it is a chain of services beginning with, Identification and Registration, to Initial and Full Assessment, Case Planning, Implementation of Case Planning to Follow Up and Case Review before arriving at Case Closure.
