Nasarawa Assembly extols Sule’s, TETFUND’s interventions at state varsity

The Nasarawa State House of  Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology, has commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for the provision of infrastructure at the State University, Keffi.

Mr Abel Bala, the Chairman of the committee and Deputy Majority Leader of the House, stated this when the committee visited the institution on an oversight function on Friday.

Abel said that Sule’s intervention and that of TETFUND, among other bodies, deserved commendation for the provision of classrooms and academic offices, among other facilities in the institution.

” We are here to assess your institution’s 2024 budget performance for the first quarter

” We are here to perform our legislative function and not to witch hunt anybody as the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has empowered us to oversight the activities of MDAs.

“We will continue to support, partner and effectively synergise with  you for the growth of the University,” he said

Abel said that the house would continue to make good laws and resolutions that would have positive effects on the education sector in the state.

” We will continue to do our best in ensuring that quality education is provided for our children

as no nation or society achieves speedy development without education.”

Abel solicited for the support of the management to enable them carry out the oversight function successfully.

The committee chairman encouraged the university to improve on their performance for the growth of the institution.

” We encourage you to do more by improving  on your performance,” he added.

He lauded Sule for his efforts in taking the University to the greater height, assuring the university of their support to succeed.

Earlier, Prof. Sa’adatu  Liman, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, appreciated the committee and the house for the support the institution was enjoying from them and called for its sustenance.

She assured the committee of the provision of quality education in the institution, vowing not to compromise the set standards.

” By God’s grace, we will continue to maintain academic excellence for quality education in the institution,” she said.

The vice-chancellor assured of her readiness to initiate good policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of the students and lecturers.
