NDE commences training of 25 Nasarawa unemployed persons on CBBTS
The National Directorate of Employment, (NDE), has commenced three-month training of 25 unemployed persons in Nasarawa State on Community-Based Business Training Scheme (CBBTS).
This is to make the beneficiaries self-employed and employers of labour.
Mr Chris Bamsida, the State Coordinator of the directorate stated this on Thursday at the inauguration of the exercise and orientation for the participants in Doma Local Government Area of the state.
Bamsida said the training was designed to identify functional skills and activities with comparative advantage in the selected communities in the state.
“This is to impart skills that are business-oriented to unemployed community persons, establishing self employment amongst the grassroot unemployed persons and creating impacts within the community.
“It’s also geared towards understanding the local realities and identifying and building on strengths, resources, and relationships that exist within communities,”he said.
The state coordinator said the CBBTS would create community involvement in deciding, designing and delivering programme.
“This will build ownership and inclusion in jobs creation in our communities,” he said.
He said the beneficiaries would be trained in skills such as weaving, black smithing and aluminum pot making in Galadima and Madaki communities of Doma LGA in the State.

Bamsida said the beneficiaries would be incentivised by empowering them with monthly stipends of N2,000 during the three months training period.
He said N3,000 monthly training fee per participant would be paid to their trainers.
“The sum of N300 will also be made available for consumables per participant.
The coordinator also said that N25,000 would be disbursed to each participant as soft loan at the end of the training to enable them to establish their business.
According to him, competent community-based trainers that understand their challenges are carefully selected and engaged in the training exercise to ensure the participants get the best skills.
The state coordinator urged the participants to be committed and disciplined during the training.
Bamsida noted that, the participants would also be trained to curtail problems of business failure associated with small scale business operation,
He called on individuals, NGOs, government at various levels and international agencies to collaborate with the directorate to eliminate unemployment in communities.
He appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for creating an enabling environment for the directorate to actualise her vision of “Jobs For All” in communities of the State.
“I appreciate the NDE Director-General, Mallam Nuhu Fikpo, for always considering Nasarawa in programmes implementation, the state looks forward for more considerations,”he said.
Also Speaking, Arc. Ahmed Sarki Usman, the Executive Chairman, Doma LGA, appreciated NDE for its continued commitment in tackling unemployment in the state.
The Chairman, represented by Mr Garba Umar, Liaison Officer, NDE Doma LGA, assured NDE of effective collaboration in order to train youths and other people of the area in different skills in the area.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Mohammed Abdulrahman, appreciated NDE for the gesture and promised to be disciplined during and after the training.
