NEDC allocates 2,000 bags of fertiliser for dry season farming in Adamawa

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has allocated 2,000 bags of NPK 15:15:15 fertiliser, awaiting distribution to farmers for the 2024 dry season farming in Adamawa.

Alhaji Tijjani Maksha, Adamawa Commissioner For Livestock and Aquaculture Development, overseeing the Ministry of  Agriculture,  disclosed this at the quarterly ministerial briefing in Yola on Tuesday.

According to him, at present, the ministry has  17,271 bags of NPK fertiliser boost food production in the state.

He said that the input included 8,560 litres of herbicide, 223,881 kilogrammes of rice seeds and 10,000 kilogrammes of maize seeds

Mr Wali Yakubu, Commissioner, Ministry for Youth and Sports Development, said the state government had done a lot under the ministry, of which included award of contract for the completion of Numan Stadium at the cost of N4.7 billion.

According to him, the project currently has reached 45 per cent completion and the contract has been reviewed up to 10 per cent because of implementation.

Mr Ayuba Audu, Commissioner for Water Resources, said the ministry under Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri led-administration, had undertaken various projects to ensure the provision of potable water supply for the citizens.

He added that currently, work was ongoing to improve services especially in the metropolitan.

He appreciated partners for their contribution to  the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector.

Also,Ibrahim Mijinyawa, Commissioner, Ministry for Local Government and  Chieftaincy Affairs, said that under the ministry, the construction of pre-primary, primary, junior secondary schools and multi purpose hall was ongoing across 21 Local Government.

He added that another project included the reconstruction of local government joint accounts hall at the deputy governor’s office, now  at 98 per cent completion
