In a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism and insurgency, troops of the Nigerian Army have uncovered a significant firearms and drone manufacturing factory operated by Armed fighters associated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militia arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

In a statement, Director of Army Public Relations Major General Onyema Nwachukwu said, the operation took place at Onicha Ulona in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The intelligence-led operation revealed that the dissidents were utilizing the factory to conduct criminal activities aimed at terrorizing neighboring communities and innocent citizens. Upon raiding the illegal factory, the troops faced stiff resistance from the Armed fighters but managed to overpower them in a fierce firefight. Two of the fighters were neutralized, and a substantial cache of arms and ammunition was recovered.

Among the items seized by the troops were a wide range of IPOB/ESN firearms, ammunition, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), and a drone manufacturing facility. Additionally, various weapons, drones in different stages of construction, prototypes, IED materials, a fully equipped workshop, and multiple power generators were confiscated. During the operation, four male and two female fighters were also apprehended by the troops.

The Nigerian Army has reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to dismantling terrorist and insurgent networks as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance security in the region.
