Nollywood Icon Liz Benson Returns to the Spotlight

Liz Benson, overwhelmed by the warm reception, remarked, “All the big people in Nollywood are here. You guys are doing exploits; God bless you. It’s nice to see all of you in real life. I am meeting all of you for the first time. But I have come to see my daughter (Mercy Johnson)”.

Liz Benson, now 58, began her career as a child actress in 1971 at the tender age of five. She gained widespread fame after her role as Mrs. Agnes Johnson in the television soap opera ‘Fortunes’ on NTA in 1993. Throughout the 1990s, Benson starred in numerous classic movies, becoming a household name and one of the pillars of early Nollywood. Her filmography includes titles such as ‘Glamour Girls’, ‘True Confession’, ‘Diamond Rings’, ‘Scores to Settle’, ‘Evil Men 1 and 2’, ‘Conspiracy’, and ‘Dead End’.

Before her return, Liz Benson had taken time off from acting to focus on her spiritual life. She is a born-again Christian and has been serving as an ordained minister, preaching the gospel full-time.
