NYSC offers free medical services, drugs to rural dwellers in Kebbi

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has commenced free medical services and distribution of free drugs to Kebbi rural dwellers as part of their Community Development Service in the state. 


The State Coordinator of the NYSC, Alhaji Mustapha Muhammed, stated this while delivering his remarks marking the Nationwide Health week under the NYSC health initiative for rural dwellers program in Zauro area of Binrin Kebbi on Tuesday. He said that the program is driven by NYSC determination to deepen the impact of healthcare services to the people.


“The programme is designed to give free services to the rural populace.
“We did the first phase where over 1,000 dwellers benefited in Birnin Kebbi and Kalgo, and this is the second phase as we have earmarked two communities of Zauro in Birnin Kebbi LGA and Alwasa, in Argungu LGA after vigorous sensitisation awareness campaign on Nov. 15.

“It’s a platform for contribution towards promoting the well-being of Indigent persons at grassroots by granting them easier access to free and quality healthcare” he said. 
Mohammed added that the program is largely implemented through medical outreach in the communities across the country.


The coordinator urged the beneficiaries to take the exercise very seriously.
In his reamrks, Alhaji Murtala Zauro, the District Head of Zauro, represented by Alhaji Muhammad Abdu-Dikko, charged the people of Zauro to patiently participate in the program.


” The exercise is a welcome development, and the gesture is indeed commendable and time as it would help the less- privileged dwellers to have access to medical care.


“It is timely also in the sense that it has united people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds as they have come together irrespective of their differences to help their fellow countrymen and women, ” he said.


The program continues on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021 at Alwasa community in Argungu Local Government Area of the state.
