POLICE ARREST SUSPECTS OVER ALLEGED SUPPLY OF AMMUNITION, ARMY UNIFORM TO BANDITS IN ZAMFARA 

Police operatives in Zamfara arrested 8 suspects for alleged supply of Food Stuffs, Motorcycles, Army uniform, negotiation and delivering ransom to bandits.

Parading the suspect in Gusau on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Muhammad Shehu said the suspects were arrested by the Police Tactical Operatives during an intelligence led operations conducted in some criminal hideouts in Gusau and Tsafe Local Government Areas of the state.

“Among the suspects, five syndicate of informants who specializes in supplying arms, ammunition, military and camouflage uniform to bandits.

“Police Tactical Operatives of the command acted on intelligence information about some suspected activities of a suspect, Zainu Lawali 39.

“The suspect, who claimed to be an ex-soldier, was arrested being in possession of a locally fabricated revolver Gun, Military camouflage uniform, fake Military I.D Card and other dangerous weapons. 

“Locally fabricated revolver gun, 4 Cartridge, fake military I D card and a set of army camouflage uniform recovered from him”. Shehu said.

He further said that police detectives acted on intelligence information that led to the arrest of one suspect Alhassan Lawali.

“The suspect confessed to have supplied over fourteen 14 operational motorcycles to the bandits in the forest at the rate of N750,000 each.

According to PPRO, Police Tactical Operatives  on surveillance patrol along Gusau – KotorKoshi–Mada axis, intercepted a suspect Umar Manaro.

“The suspect confessed to be one of the notorious bandits terrorizing Mada and Kotorkoki areas.

“On spot search, one AK-49 and one Lar rifles and 174 round of live ammunition were recovered in his possession.

The PPRO disclosed that all the suspects will be charged to Court for prosecution.
