Police Reiterates Commitment On Fight Against Internal Security

The Commissioner of police Sokoto State  Mohammed Usaini Gumel on Monday assured residents of Sokoto of the concerted effort of the police through collaboration and synergy with sister security agencies to fight the rising threat of banditry and other violent crimes in the state. 

Mr. Gumel stated that the police is also determined to secure government installations with particular focus on the Nigeria Correctional facility in the state against criminal. elements that have made the custodial centre a target of their terror attacks. 

Gumel urged the residents to provide police with useful information in a bid to track criminals in their areas .

“Let me  inform you security is everybody’s business so provide us with intelligent information ,we will not disclosed your identity he stated.

He said that it is not business as usual stressing that the command under his watch would do everything to flush out criminals from the state.

” If you are a criminal it is better for you to relocate from the state as there is no hiding place for you he added. 

It has been recalled that the security challenges of banditry, kidnappings for ransom, arson and other terrorism activities in the North West geopolitical regions still persist in the state despite effort of security agencies .

 The residents in most of the trouble areas especially Sokoto east senatorial district are calling for redouble efforts as the invaders have caused the death of many, rustled livestock and rendered several others homeless. 

But the Sokoto state Police command is assuring residents of a renew effort through collaboration with sister security agencies aim at steming the tide of the rising security challenges in the state.

Gumel also warned officers and men of the command to always serve with integrity, compassion  and desists from all forms of misconduct while discharging their duties. 

He maintained that  the police will not hesitate to punish any erring officer as well as reward hard working and dedicated police officers. 

The Commissioner also decorated nineteen Assistant Superintendents of police (ASP) from Sokoto state police command who benefitted from the  welfare drive of the Inspector General of police with their new ranks of Deputy Superintendent of police (DSP).

In another development the command has paraded four suspected criminals.who specialized in snatching motorcycles, one of the most committed crimes in the State.
