Ramadan: Bagudu lauds NGO for  distributing 17,500 bags of foodstuff in 21 LGAs

The Kebbi State Governor, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu has lauded the Khadimiyya for Foundation for the free distribution of over 17,500 bags of foodstuff to less-privileged across 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

While flagging- off the distribution of the items in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday, Bagudu, described the gesture as a right step in the right direction.
He said,” My administration has since its inception in 2015 been providing assistance to people across the state.

“We have procured 30,000 assorted food items for distribution to people as part of effort to bring down prices of food items in the state.”
Bagudu also revealed that the state government had fully paid gratuity to retired civil servants for the years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, adding that all the remaining retired civil servants’ gratuity would be settled soon.

Bagudu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Babale Umar-Yauri, advised other political office holders, elected officers and well-to-do individuals to borrow a leaf from the NGO with a view to reducing hardship amongst the less- privileged persons.

“It is very important for elected and political officer holders to use what they earn to assist the downtrodden,” he advised.
The governor assured that the state government had procured foodstuff meant to be distributed to people across the 21 LGAs for Ramadan period.

In his remarks, the Founder of the NGO, who is the Attorney – General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Alhaji Abubakar Malami, SAN, said humanitarian gesture of this nature had been going on silently over the last seven years with the consent and support of President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Bagudu.

Malami said he decided to make the gesture public due to consistent advice from associates as well as Islamic clerics who suggested that it was not wrong to publicise good deeds for others to emulate not for pride.

Quoting a verse from the Holly Qur’an, the minister said those who feed people secretly and openly would definitely earn the reward of their action from Almighty Allah.

He recalled that in the recent past, he drilled 236 boreholes across the state, assisted over 2,800 traders with start-up capital and over 500 people benefited from CBN/FG support scheme.

The minister prayed that the gesture would be a path to earn Jannatul Firdus (highest paradise) in the hereafter.
