Ramadan: Kebbi govt to distribute 65,000 bags of foodstuff worth N580m to 21 LGAs – Commissioner
The Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Shalla, says that the state government ha procured 65,000 bags of foodstuff worth N580 million to distributed across the state.
Shalla made this known during the flag-off ceremony of the distribution of the Ramadan package to needy by Khadimiyya for Justice and Development, an NGO, in Birniin Kebbi on Saturday.

He said,” As part of our efforts in order to cushion the effect of some difficulties and challenges face by the people, especially in rural areas, the state government has procured 65,000 bags of foodstuff worth N580 million to distributed across the state.”

Muhammad-Shallah commended the NGO for distributing over 17,000 bags of parboiled rice to 21 local government areas of the state for onward distribution to the less- privileged as Ramadan package.
The commissioner called on well- to- do individuals in the society to emulate the NGO.
In his remarks, Gov. Atiku Bagudu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar- Yauri, said his administration had since its inception in 2015 been providing assistance to people across the state.
Bagudu said,” Over 30,000 bags of assorted food items have been procured by the state government for distribution to people as part of effort bring down prices of food items in the state.
“The state government has fully paid gratuity to retired civil servants for the years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 and all the remaining retired civil servants’ gratuity will be settled soon.”
In his remarks, the founder of the NGO, Abubakar Malami,SAN, said the gesture was meant to complement the Federal and state governments’ efforts in assisting the people during the Ramadan period.
