Troops of the Special Task Force Operation Safe Haven have discovered and destroyed a factory where illicit weapons were being manufactured by rogue individuals in Plateau State, located in the North Central region of Nigeria.

The troops made the discovery in Pakachi village, situated within the Mangu Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Army reported that the firearms seized from the factory included: Five AK47 Rifles and four Magazines; 21 Dane Guns; 4 Revolver Rifles; 11 Pistols with 5 Magazines; 17 Gun Barrels; Ammunitions of different calibres, and various other related instruments.

Furthermore, a 25-year-old man was apprehended at the factory, but the owner of the facility, Nuhu Meshack, is still at large.

The Mangu Local Government Area is part of the region where a crisis occurred in Plateau State in January of this year, resulting in the deaths of scores in recent weeks.
