YABATECH rector reaffirms commitment to transform institution
The Rector, Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Dr Ibraheem Abdul, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strategic leadership, partnerships and people-centred development to transform the institution.
Abdul made the reaffirmation when members of the University of Lagos Muslim Alumni Association (UMA), Southern Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the college to felicitate with him.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Adekunle Adams, Deputy Registrar, Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations (CICPR), YABATECH, on Friday.
The rector described the visit as significant, saying it reflected the enduring relationships forged through education and the capacity of such relationships to contribute to institutional development and national progress.
He expressed appreciation to the delegation for its goodwill.
The rector appreciated them for recognising the efforts being made by his administration to reposition YABATECH as a leading institution for technical, technological and vocational education.
Abdul said institutional transformation required more than physical infrastructure, stressing the need for investment in people, academic programmes, innovation, partnerships and sustainable funding.
He emphasised the importance of stronger relationships with alumni, professional bodies, industry, government and other stakeholders to build an ecosystem capable of supporting the college’s development.
‘’YABATECH will continue to ensure that its programmes and operations remain responsive to the changing needs of society, while sustaining its historic role in technical and technological education, ‘’ he said.

Abdul also acknowledged the role of alumni associations in strengthening educational institutions through the provision of expertise, professional networks, resources and goodwill.
Earlier, the statement said the UMA delegation visited the College to felicitate with Abdul and demonstrate its solidarity with him as one of its members and ambassadors.
It stated that the delegation was particularly impressed by the rector’s leadership and the developments recorded in the college under his administration.
The delegation, it said, commended the administration for creating greater opportunities for staff development through participation in professional conferences, training programmes and other capacity-building initiatives.
The statement also noted that the administration had expanded the college’s academic frontiers through the introduction of new areas of study and establishment of additional centres.
It described the rector’s achievements as increasingly visible through developments across the institution, noting the importance of accountability, transparency and service to humanity.
The statement said the visit was also aimed at encouraging the rector to sustain his efforts toward advancing education and contributing to national development.
