YSFON: U-15 boys’ soccer tournament kicks off in Bauchi
The Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) has commenced the third edition of the annual Dr. Aisha Mohammed (Sarauniya) U-15 boys’ soccer tournament at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.
The Voice Media Trust (VMT NEWS) reports that the tournament, which started on Jan. 19, will feature 16 teams from 15 states including Katsina, Kebbi, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa.

Others are Gombe, Jigawa, Ondo, Ekiti, Plateau, Bauchi, Niger, Kano, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The National Secretary of the Federation, Patrick Okpavuerhe, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen at the end of the first match in Bauchi.
He said each participating state had 20 players who must be under 15-years-old, with a maximum weight of 55 kg and height of 1.72 meters.
“The tournament is scheduled to end on Jan. 23. With its focus on grassroots football development.
“The Dr. Aisha Mohammed U-15 boys’ soccer tournament is expected to showcase emerging talent and promote youth football in Nigeria,” he said.

VMT NEWS reports that the host team, Bauchi, kicked off the tournament with a 1-0 win against Ondo in the opening match.
DIG Sani Mohammed (retired), the guest of honor at the opening ceremony, commended the organisers and Hajiya Mohammed for supporting the tournament.
He emphasised the importance of developing young talent and encouraged individuals to support organizations and individuals nurturing football talents in the country.
