ZAMFARA ASSEMBLY DIRECTS INVESTIGATION OF HEALTH INSTITUTIONS 

The Zamfara house of assembly has ordered investigation of admission procedures of state School of Nursing and Midwifery Gusau.

The assembly also ordered investigation of operations and leadership performance of the state College of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe.

The Speaker of the House, Alhaji Nasiru Mua’zu Magarya gave the directive during the assembly’s plenary on Wednesday following a motion moved under matters of urgent public importance by a member representing Maradun 2 Constituency, Nasiru Gora on the operations and performance of the College of Health Sciences Tsafe.

Gora said the house should check operations and performance of the State College of Health Sciences and Technology Tsafe being it as institution producing health personnel in the state.

Also commenting on the motion, the leader of the house, Alhaji Faruku Musa Dosara described the motion as a welcome development.

Dosara also advised the house to direct house committee on health to investigate admission procedures of the School of Nursing and Midwifery Gusau to ensure due process and avoid irregularities.

“We are aware of various allegations of irregularities against the admission procedures of state School of Nursing and Midwifery Gusau”, Dosara said.

After deliberations on the matter, the lawmakers unanimously affirmed the motion to carry out the investigation.

The house leader called on the house to direct its committee on health to  investigate the institutions.

The Speaker, Magarya directed the house committee on health to investigate the two institutions on the issues raised by the lawmakers and report to the house in two weeks time.
