ZAMFARA ASSEMBLY MOVES TO AMEND HISBAH COMMISSION LAW, OTHERS

 Zamfara House of Assembly embarked on amendment process on laws establishing State Hisbah Commission, Law Reform Commission and Area Development Council of the state.

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Thursday by the Director General, Press Affairs and Public Relations to the State House, Malam Nasiru Biyabiki.

According to the statement, the assembly has already given all the amendment bills of the affected laws at its first reading during its plenary on Thursday.

“Majority leader of the House, Alhaji Faruku Dosara All Progressives Congress (APC, Maradun 1) moved the motion for the amendment of the bills during the assembly’s plenary.

“The bills were, executive bill to amend law No. 17 of 2003 establishing Zamfara Hisbah Commission and a bill to amend law No.19 of 2003 establishing Zamfara Reform Commission.

“And a private bill for a law to amend the Zamfara State Area Development Councils Establishment law number 27 of 2003’’, Biyabiki said.

According to the statement, the house leader called on the lawmakers to consider the proposed amendments for the laws to become people-oriented for the betterment of the entire society.

“After deliberations by the lawmakers, the Speaker, Alhaji Nasiru Magarya directed the Clerk of the House Alhaji Sa’idu Anka to give all the amendment bills first readings.

Magarya said that there was need for the house to review the state existing laws for possible amendment so as to conform with the trend of time.

Meanwhile, in the same sitting, the house has directed the committee on health and human medicine to follow-up with the house resolution on the need to upgrade Kwatarkwashi Primary Health Care Centre, PHC, to General Hospital.
