JONAPWD Yobe chapter advocates for more inclusion of persons with disabilities in elective positions.

Yobe state chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with disabilities has commended Governor Mai Mala Buni CON for establishing a commission for persons with disabilities describing him as the most disabilities friendly governor in Nigeria.

The chairman of the joint association, Yawudima Barma Yunusari made the commendation while briefing journalists at a peaceful demonstration organised by the association advocating for more inclusion in governance and elective positions.
The peaceful demonstration took place at the government house main entrance gate with a placard advocating for more political participation.

According to the chairman, as the local government election is approaching, there is a need for more inclusion of persons with disabilities in elective positions, adding that members of the association are capable of leadership in any position.

Yawudima Barma said they have qualified and competent people who would contest in any elective positions in the forthcoming 2027 general election pointing out that over fourteen thousand members of the association have obtained their permanent voters card.
Other demands include equal rights to work, employment opportunities, political appointees, full implementation of the National Disability Law 2018 and adequate budgetary allocation to the newly established commission among others.
